It was gathered that for a long time the affected staff were using their personal funds to run official matters without being refunded.

This prompted the NFF leadership to set up a three-man committee headed by the NFF Deputy Secretary Emmanuel Ikpeme  to look into the matter. Other members of the committee which was constituted during the 2018 Africa Nations Championship in January are Christian Emeruwa and Bola Oyeyode.

Those owed were asked to submit evidence to back up their claims.  Sportinglife.ng was unable to ascertain the exact number of staff that appeared before the panel.

Sportinglife.ng however learnt that the NFF may negotiate with those it is owing. “The staff had a meeting with the NFF President Amaju Pinnick last year and the matter was raised. He told them that the federation will negotiate.

“That would be after it has been established that the staff is owed. They would negotiate with the staff to see how much they can pay, if the amount is on the high side.,” a source privy to the meeting informed Sportinglife.ng.

With the exercise over, members of staff  are now expecting the leadership to do the needful before heading for the FIFA World Cup next month in Russia.
