UEFA Conference League: Genk file out Igbokwe against Zorya

KAA Gent have named an unknown Nigerian striker, Goodluck Igbokwe, on their UEFA Conference League matchday squad to Poland against Ukrainian club Zorya.

Igbokwe, 21, has yet to make his debut for the Gent first team.

However, he has caught the eye with his performances with the Jong Gent, the Belgian club’s second team, where he has scored two goals in three appearances as a starter this season.

In March, he was capped by the Nigeria U23s.

Better known as Chukwudi, the striker has been at Gent since July 2021 after stints with Right2Win Academy and HB Academy.

He has been selected ahead of the likes of Flying Eagles striker Ahmed Abdullahi, who has also been with the Gent second team since last year.

Both Gift Orban and Jordan Torunarigha, who received their maiden Super Eagles call-ups against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo earlier this month are on the squad.
