VAR Controversy: Guardiola escapes FA’s axe
The FA would not take any disciplinary action against Pep Guardiola over his “sarcastic” congratulation of officiating referee Michael Oliver in the aftermath of Manchester City’s 3-1 defeat by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The City manager was seen raving at the match officials for not awarding two penalties in the course of the game.
An angry Guardiola struggled to control his emotions walked up to Oliver and his assistants and shaking their hands while twice shouting “thank you so much”.
The FA on Monday looked into the matter and ruled that Guardiola had no case to answer.
