Lobi Stars shift focus to MFM after Champions League ouster

Lobi Stars have expressed their readiness to take MFM to the cleaners in today’s rearranged league tie slated for the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

The reigning league champions were thrashed 3-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa on Saturday in the CAF Champions League Matchday Five which ended their hope of qualifying for the quarter-final stage of
the competition and the Vice Chairman of the Pride of Benue, Mike

Idoko told SportingLife.ng that they are putting their attention on the league season.

He said Lobi Stars have tried their best in the competition to get to the group stage of the lucrative club competition and regaining Nigeria’s second ticket which was lost last year.

“I can only say that we have tried to return the country to the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time since 2016 and even though we have been eliminated from the competition, we are going
out with our heads held high,” Idoko told SportingLife.ng

“No matter what anybody says at this point in time we have been able to restore our second ticket in the CAF Champions League and we have not been disgraced out of the competition. Our ouster will enable us
to concentrate on the league season and strive to win the title again so that we can qualify for Africa again.
“We have a game with MFM on Wednesday and I believe that we are ready for that game.

We want to use it to prepare for the visit of ASEC Mimosas on Saturday. We are not in a good position in the league table and we believe that a win will shore us up the league table a little.”
