Recuperating Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is among the 59 players retained by newly promoted side Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the 2018/2019 season.

 

Wolves who are making a return to the Premier League after a six-year absence announced the list on their website on Sunday.

Also retained are Bright Enobakhare, former England U-21 international Dominic Iorfa and United States U-18 player Owen Otasowie.

Ikeme was Wolves first choice keeper until last July when he was diagnosed with acute leukemia after returning abnormal blood tests during a routine pre-season check-up. He has been undergoing treatment at the Christie Clinic in Manchester in the UK.

Ahead of the World Cup, Ikeme will have another opportunity of conveying his best wishes to the team when Nigeria takes on England in a friendly on June 2 at the Wembley Stadium.  Prior to the match, the keeper will have the honour of taking the ceremonial kick-off.

Ikeme will get his share of the World Cup qualification bonus due to the Eagles before the Congo DR friendly in Portharcourt, the Rivers State capital on May 28 as announced by the NFF President Amaju Pinnick.
